Savory Chinese Scallion Pancakes
Introducing my savory Chinese Scallion Pancakes loaded with chopped green onions and a savory dough. An easy, party appetizer your guests will adore.

Ingredients
For the Dough
- 2 cups all purpose flour
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1/2 cup boiling water
- 1/4 cup cool water
For the Filling
- 1/4 cup + 2 tbsp all purpose flour
- 1/4 cup cooking oil
- 3/4 tsp salt
- 1 cup green onions about 8 to 10 split and chopped
- 1-2 tbsp vegetable oil for pan frying
Instructions
Dough Preparation
- Combine 2 cups flour and 1/2 tsp salt in a bowl. Gradually stir in 1/2 cup boiling water.
- Mix in 1/4 cup cool water to form a soft dough. Knead the dough on a floured surface until smooth. Cover and let rest for 30 minutes.
For the Filling
- In a separate bowl, mix 1/4 cup + 2 tbsp all purpose flour, 1/4 cup cooking oil and 3/4 tsp salt.
- Add in green onions and stir gently.
To Prepare
- Divide rested dough into 4 portions. Roll out one portion into a thin rectangle on a floured surface.
- Evenly spread a portion of prepared filling over the dough.
- Roll the dough tightly to create a log. Then coil it into a spiral shape. Gently flatten the spiral. Then roll the spiral again into a thin pancake.
Cooking
- Heat vegetable oil in a skillet. Place pancake in the skillet and cook until both sides are golden brown. Repeat the process until the entire batch if done.
- Cut the cooked pancakes into wedges and serve with your favorite dipping sauce. Enjoy!
