Who can resist the magic of melted cheese and seasoned potatoes? These golden, crunchy sticks are a hug in snack form, and they’re surprisingly easy to make. Let’s dive in!

Ingredients You’ll Need For This Recipe
  • 1 lbs. potatoes (Russet or golden potatoes)
  • ½ cup corn starch
  • ½ cup shredded cheese (I used Gouda, but you can use any kind)
  • Salt, to taste
Step-by-Step Instructions

Step 1: Start by bringing a pot of water to a boil.

Step 2: Peel and wash your potatoes.

Step 3: Medium dice your potatoes.

Step 4: Cook the potatoes in boiling water for about 12-15 minutes, or until fully cooked.

Step 5: Remove them from the pot and let them drain until all water is drained.

Step 6: Then mash your potatoes by pushing them through a strainer.

Step 7: Add the cornstarch, cheese, and a pinch of salt to the mashed potatoes and mix until well combined.

Step 8: Place the mashed potatoes in a Ziplock bag and flatten the mashed potatoes with a rolling pin, and freeze for about 1 hour.

Step 9: Carefully cut open the Ziplock bag to keep the mashed potatoes intact.

Step 10: Cut your sticks by cutting them in half first, and then smaller sticks.

Step 11: Heat a pan with at least 1 inch of oil and wait until it has reached 350 degrees Fahrenheit.

Step 12: Once your oil is hot, fry your potato cheese sticks in batches for about 2-3 minutes. Make sure your pan is not too crowded.

Step 13: Place them on a plate with kitchen towel, so it will absorb most oil.

Step 14: Serve while hot with your favorite dip sauce.

And there you have it—cheesy potato sticks that are crispy, gooey, and absolutely irresistible. Whether you’re sharing them at a party or enjoying them solo, these savory snacks are sure to impress. Pair them with your favorite dipping sauce, and you’ve got a treat that’s as comforting as it is delicious. Now, grab a plate and dig in—cheesy happiness awaits!
