Golden, cheesy, and packed with pure joy—arepas con queso are basically the love child of a pancake and a grilled cheese, but with way more flavor and zero regrets. One bite, and you’ll wonder why bread even exists!

They’re crispy on the outside, melty on the inside, and guaranteed to make you forget all your problems—at least until you run out. Honestly, if happiness had a flavor, it would taste like an arepa con queso!

Step 1: Mix the ingredients in a medium size bowl and mix well until a you can form a ball.

Step 2: Divide the dough in 4 even balls.

Step 3: Dip the ball in cold water, so it doesn’t stick, and place on plastic wrap. Fold the plastic wrap over the ball and press down with a plate. Make them as thick or thin as you like. Repeat this with each ball of dough.

Step 4: In a pan heat a little bit of oil and fry each arepa for about 2-4 minutes on each side, or until the edges start to brown a little bit.

Step 5: Then add cheese add some cheese on the arepa and let it melt on low heat for a few more minutes.

- 1 cup hot water
- ¼ cup shredded cheese
- ¼ tsp salt or to taste
